Bill stopped by one day to present his Aston Martin DB2 to us. As many of our customers do, Bill was looking to restore his precious DB2; noting he wanted the finished product to be something he could enjoy driving, and displaying, equally. 

From afar, the body of the DB2 presented well, and it was complete. Despite this, previously repaired areas were already showing signs of cracking, and the epoxy primer hinted at areas of poor repair beneath. To get a proper finish over what lied below, meant stripping down the previous unknown work and starting again from scratch. Not to mention this example mechanically needing TLC, and the undercarriage beginning to weaken. Not a problem for us- we were ready to take on the job! 

First things first: establish a baseline for the overall condition of the vehicle; as well as particulars, such as the engine's compression numbers. This will give us a better idea of what items may need more work than anticipated, if any.

Our team worked fast to enhance the finish of the engine and it’s accessories. While the engine restoration was underway, our body techs had painted and assembled the frame as a rolling chassis, later on adding body panels as each became ready for mock up. The engine was also mocked up at certain points to ensure a perfect fit once everything was painted!

After paint comes the grueling task of perfecting panel fitment and accessories. With a perfectly clean slate of a paintjob, it’s tedious to start reassembly. Thankfully, our techs are up for the job.

Interior electrics went hand in hand with our upholstery work- and one by one the Aston began to look more and more like a finished car…

With the soft top frame restored and recovered with new fabric, it was nearing completion and time for some road testing to verify this example was dialed in.

Mechanically, minor adjustments were made to the tune. Thankfully, this car operated just as nice as it looks. Keron ensured the car remained as detailed as possible while this Aston was under our care.

By the time we had finished, summer had arrived and it was now time to drive!
